In short

The 1-day Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) course by experts from OSINT Switzerland is a fast-paced, hands-on training course. Starting from scratch and with a steep learning curve, it gives the participants a solid foundation on which to build and become a versatile OSINTer. It focuses on understanding OSINT methods and mindset. Participants will apply the techniques learned and deepen their knowledge by solving practical exercises on provided laptops based on real-world scenarios and challenging puzzles. As it is the Reloaded version of last year's successful training it contains the same curricular with some little tweaks and updates from the OSINT world. That means last year's participants will encounter mostly known content but they are of course invited to join again as well.

About the Trainers

Elisa Nannini

Elisa studied Telecommunications Engineering, specialising in Networks and Security. She completed her Master's degree by working at the European Space Agency for her Master's thesis, which consisted in the simulation and analysis of routing protocols for satellite networks. Since many years, Elisa started a web hosting company with some university colleagues. Since her studies, Elisa has always been interested in cybersecurity.

She continuously improved her knowledge by attending CTFs and self-learning platforms, until she decided to join Compass Security in 2021 as a Security Analyst to play a more active role in the cybersecurity field and to turn her passion into a job.

In her spare time, she's always enjoyed solving fictional mysteries, which is how she discovered OSINT and became more involved in attending OSINTforGood events. She then decided to create a community with other colleagues called OSINT Switzerland, of which she is now co-president.

Ivano Somaini

Ivano Somaini completed his Master's degree with a specialisation in IT Security at the ETHZ. Ivano Somaini joined Compass Security in 2011, where he leads a team of ethical hackers and security analysts in Zurich. In 2015 he was trained as an Advanced Social Engineer by Christopher Hadnagy, one of the world's best social engineers. A year later, he received further training in Open Source Intelligence from Michael Bazzell, the former FBI undercover agent and recognised OSINT expert. Today, he teaches Social Engineering and Open Source Intelligence at various universities in Switzerland and gives OSINT workshops for journalists and law enforcement. In 2024 he founded OSINT Switzerland with other colleagues.
